A message from our founder

Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students,

Welcome Back for the Fall Semester!

I hope you all well and refreshed after the summer break. As we step into this new fall semester, I want to extend a warm welcome back to each of you. Whether you're returning or joining us for the first time, we are grateful to have you as part of the TBI family.

At the heart of everything we do here at TBI is our deep reverence for Jesus Christ and our commitment to growing in His grace. As we embark on this new season, let us remember that every lesson, every discovery, and every challenge is an opportunity to draw closer to Him. Our mission is not only to grow in knowledge but to learn more deeply from God's Word, which is the foundation of all true wisdom.

To our faculty and staff, thank you for your continued devotion to both academic excellence and spiritual guidance. Your dedication ensures that TBI remains a place where the love of Christ is at the center of everything we do, and where our students are equipped both academically and spiritually for the future.

To our students, I encourage you to embrace this time not only as a season of learning but as a season of spiritual growth. Seek God in your studies, let His Word guide your paths, and trust in His purpose for your life. The challenges you face are opportunities to deepen your faith and reliance on Him.

As we come together as a community of believers, may we commit this semester to the glory of God, asking for His wisdom and grace to guide us in all we undertake. Let’s make this semester one of discovery, growth, and a deeper understanding of His Word.

In Christ’s love and service,

Dr. Ronnie L. Riddick, Th. D.

OUR HISTORY

Download Progress Bar

Dr. Ronnie L. Riddick founded Transformational Bible Institute (TBI) in Elizabeth City, NC in December 1998. Classes convened in Elizabeth City, Ahoskie, and Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina beginning 1998. TBI has now served the Body of Christ for 25 years in North Carolina, Virginia and via Zoom Classrooms in different parts of the country.

The school started with offering an associate degree but over the years of persevering, TBI has been given the authority to offer Associate, Bachelor, Master and Doctoral Degrees as well as certificate programs.

TBI is an interdenominational ministry dedicated to building the body of Christ through serving it. The Institute makes a theological education accessible, affordable, and practical to supplement the teaching ministry of the local church. The mission and vision of TBI is to see lives changed through teaching and

training believers, according to the Word of God. They will be renewed in their minds and will no longer be bound to think as the world thinks. They will be equipped to think and live according to God’s perspective. As Romans 12:2 states, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

Students are encouraged to discover, develop, and use their gifts. As a result, they will help their churches function as healthy bodies and make a greater impact on their communities, for the glory of God. Our focus is to help students understand that all Christians are called to ministry and to equip them to fulfill their callings. TBI teaches that ministry is about knowing God and in return making Him known to others by ministering to their needs.

core values

Primacy of the Bible

We value a biblical curriculum that grounds students in accurate biblical doctrine through academic quality that will give relevance in their world, in Christian service ministry and in daily living.

Passion for Servanthood

We value servanthood that learns to serve the Lord Jesus Christ, His Church, and the world with excellence and a humble, submissive attitude so that leadership in ministry clearly recognizes the worth of each individual before God.

Priority of the Church

We value serving through the fundamental church community and thus acknowledge that the church is God’s instrument in reaching the world, both locally and globally, with the Gospel of Christ.

Pursuit of a Biblical Worldview

We value serving with a biblical worldview that recognizes the absolute authority of the Bible as the source of truth to govern believers in living as light in a dark world.

Practice of Integrity

We value serving with integrity to foster a climate of righteousness and accountability in all relationships.

TBI has a mission and vision to see lives changed through teaching and training in the Word of God. Believers will be renewed in their minds and will no longer be bound to think as the world does, but will be able to think and live according to God’s perspective. Individuals will be encouraged to discover, develop and use their gifts. As a result they will help their church function as a healthy body, and be able to make a great impact on their communities for the glory of God.

The curriculum focuses on relationships with God and mankind, discipleship, and various aspects of ministry. It is designed to equip Christian leaders (Bible teachers, pastors, evangelists, missionaries, auxiliary or department heads, etc.) to fulfill their positions and callings. Courses can also be taken by laypersons for ministry preparation and spiritual enrichment. Students are encouraged to use the training they receive to minister to others. TBI also offers customized mini-courses, workshops, weekend classrooms and seminars to strengthen and equip churches, ministries and organizations.

Testimonials

"I appreciate TBI for being a blessing to me in sharing the wisdom and knowledge of the Word of God since attending classes there. Because of this, I have a zeal to share the word of God with others that they may experience the love, salvation, and compassion of Jesus Christ. I have learned so much, and want to learn even more."

-M. Holloman

"For me, college was never affordable, accessible, or practical until I became a student at TBI; where it is affordable and offers scholarships. It is accessible because it offers classes both virtually and in the classroom. The most valuable lesson I learned is to 'let the Bible say what the Bible says'. I just recently received my Bachelor of Biblical Studies Degree at age 80 from TBI."
